Got a 6 lber yesterday!! - KY Lake report

Well, Dew and I got out and fished yesterday. Had a pretty darn good day, with lots of fish.

Water temp at launch was actually cooler than 2 weeks ago. BTW, we were on KY Lake, launched out of Fenton. Fair amount of debris in the water, and the water for the most part was stained. Anyway, the water temps... at launch 66 degrees, and about 70 when we took out.

We patterned fish pretty well. We did search the shallows throuroughly, and found no fish up shallow, with the occassional very short exception. We caught almost all of our fish on primary or secondary points, near shore, with at least 10 feet of water nearby.

Not a single fish showed any sign of spawn. Tails were either completely healed, or the fish we caught had not even had their first bed fanning yet. The biggest fish we caught, and I think Darrell for the wonderful net job, well the fish was at least 6. I'll tell you why I say wonderful net job. I set the hook, and said to Darrell that I could not even turn it. I was sure I must have had another huge drum that I've been great at catching this year. Anyway, the fish came up and jumped, I held the rod tip way under water trying to keep the fish in the water. I worked hard to keep pressure on the fish, and even when it surged under the boat, I pressed the tumb bar to free spool and use my thumb as the drag. When I got her back up, Darrell quickly netted her, and brought her on board. Good thing too. When I picked her up by her mouth, the hook was not through her skin or mouth anywhere. The hook was just laying on the corner of her mouth. How in the world I got that fish in is simply one thing, Devine intervention!!!!!!!

Thanks Darrell for a fun day on the water!

    Danny

    RE: Redneck - horses?

Sweet! So are you a good handicapper? I'm not a huge gambler...more conservative and play the good options to cover + pay for parking/beverages.

I really go for the atmosphere and the track.....oh the track....there's no place like the downs man. It's the big leagues....it's nostalgic like going to the Hollow. Though I've only driven past Keenland....it looks awesome too....I'll bet it's a very homey atmosphere....and I'd fit right in with all the UK fans.

It sounds like you get the added bonus of going backside and seeing these magnificent creatures up close.....Man what a deal! Who does your father-in-law train with?
