I had the same problem on my new boat, but figured it was just me. I'm 6'-5" and it is difficult to find leg room in anything. I replaced the straight seat pedestal with an offset one from BPS (Swivel-Eze Pro Power pedestal) for $33. It is a couple inches taller than the old pedestal, but that's no problem for me. It only comes in a 3/4" pin model, so I had to change out my seat mounts ( I had 2-3/8" posts) for the one seat. I now have plenty of leg room to run the foot-control.
