Although I have not been involved in the locking or deleting of posts, it is clear that they happen as a result of breaking of the rules.

I know in one of the threads the article was posted in full, after Jim had asked that it not be. Then the post degenirated into a near name calling event.

It would occur to me that the "locking and deletes" that you seem to be complaining about are not the fault of any of the moderators, but instead are the fault of any of us posters that break the rules... including me.

the article should not be posted but thier names are a matter of public record. I dont care if I get deleted but some of us were in the middle of a conversation last night when it was zapped.
I have the article and will email it to anyone who wants it. that way fishin.com isnt responsible. i guess i take this a little harder than some cause i find baskets all the time and now I guess i know how to handle it. I also know of a duo on barren that does this but I havent been in the postition to be at the right oplace at the right time YET

I wasn't online last night, so I don't know what was going on. But I can imagine quite well, maybe wrong, but I imagine I am pretty close.

My imagination tells me that the conversation where the names were being bantered about likly had the duo tried and convicted as guilty. when in fact, at this point, despite the evidence, they must be considered innocent until PROVEN guilty.

We are a nation of laws, and unfortunately at times, those laws are more protective of the accused than they are of the general public.

so far the duo have only been tried in the court of public opinion. That verdict does not protect individuals, or entities such as this board, from the actual laws that do protect the accused, and as such, someone last night made the decision to, in your terms, "zap" the discussion.

I am not defending what they did, nor would I attack it, as I wasn't here, but your message was clearly in an attack mode. Or, I should say, since I could not hear the inflection of your spoken voice, nor could I see the expression on your face, I took the words you typed and I concluded the demenor with which they are offered.

Enough about this... you should have been fishing with me and Darrell yesterday. If he fishes like that on Sunday, you better be glad you aren't going to Ol' Hickory!!!

I guess I am lucky not to be fishin this weekend then huh?(yea right) Why aren't you fishin with us yet.
This cheating thing isn't as easy for me to let go and GET OVER IT maybe cause these guys have taken my money at the wildcat tourneys out of mineral mounds and maybe cause if an example isn't set it could encourage others to do it to if all they get is a 50 dollar fine. I have never been one to stick my head in the sand and ignore wrongs. We have it in OUR power to change things but not by getting over it but by standing up against it. so this site can sweep it under a rug and act like it is no big deal but look at all the people who has fished against these jokers in the Triton owner , the super bass, the froggie wild cat. They could have fished honestly in all those but now the shadow is there it is for me and other who got a check in any of these. Now to wonder if instead of 500 should i have gotten 1000 or instead of 50 maybe 100. we'll never know but the thing is if it pleads down to not stealing then they cant be legally banned from these. So we can be quiet and let this go away and you could see these two at your next Buddie tourney and because they weren't convicted of stealing they cant be discriminated against

I'll make one more post, then you can have the last word,then we should take this to email and quit boring everyone else here.

Technically, they did not steal, as they did not win any money.

They can still be banned. You see every single tournament rules I've ever read says that being allowed to fish in the tourney is at the discretion of the tournament director... or something very similar. What that means is they can, the tournament directors, just decide not to accept the entry. Thus they are banned.

Now as for sticking your head in the sand... ranting and raving on this board is not doing a thing to correct the situation. Heck, only a handful of us know who you really are, so even the accused don't know how to face their accuser, in this case you.

If you really want to make a difference, then you need to organize some sort of action, not rant and rave. You can organize some sort of political lobby... you can petition the state to ban buddy tournies. Of course that is a slippery slope. Just complaining and going against the rules of the board owners are not constructive ways to express your concerns, or to address making corrections. You can also choose to not participate in any tourney that is not a draw tourney. You can try to organize other anglers to do the same, and you can try to do away with these buddy tournies.

I am pretty sure at this point the people who put on these tournies all know who the anglers in question are.

Think of it this way... picture a small circle, then picture a larger circle around the smaller one. The small circle represents your circle of control. This is the things in life you can control. These you can do something about. The larger circle contains all things in life that affect you, but are out of your control. These things affect you, but you can not do any thing to influence them. You now have a small circle, your circle of influence, and a large circle that you have no influence over. If you spend your time concentrating on your small circle, you circle of influence, you will be able to make changes that affect your life. if you spend time talking about the larger circle, your circle of concern, if you will, you are only worrying about that which you have no control over.

Now it needs to be said that the above concept is not mine, and is paraphrased from the 7 habits of highly affective people book.

So, what is in your circle of concern, that is not in your circle of influence? Well, the rules of the board for one. We are all affect by them, we are all concerned with them, but only a couple have any influence over them. Those two are Peter and Jim D. Also in that circle of concern, but not your circle of influence is the two guys accused of cheating. you have no control over their trial, you have no control over whether they get into tournaments, other than those that are put on by organizations that you belong to, such as SOKY.

What that means is that we need to let go this whole discussion on the board. I'll galdly talk with you over email. I'll let you have the last word in a reply, then I'll ask one of the other moderators to lock the thread if any other posts are made in regard to the incident.

As for fishing with you guys.... man I want to so baddly. there are reasons I'm not doing it this year, but hopefully next.

Bassfan copy and pasted the same article on their website and just gave the credit for the Paducah Sun. Not sure why it is a big deal here and not there but that is for the rule makers to decide. I thought a newspaper article was a matter of public record.

Bass Fan can chose to do as they wish. As a writer who has had his work used by others for profit I will NOT post an article in its entirety. It belongs to the writer and his company / news paper / magazine etc.
Still I did leave the names in the article and I just cut it down to the basic names and info.. all that was needed. Still the conversation managed to degrade into name calling and complaints and as is the history of fishin.com we locked the post.
If you dont like the fact I locked it.. well sorry, not going to put it back.
NOW again I think there are better things for us to spend our energies on than 2 disreputable human beings who stooped to cheating in a Fishing Event.
I for one have been spending my time attempting to help "Little Tony" by sending emails to the guides I know and I personally sent him a nice shirt and hat.
NOW.. agree to disagree, but lets get over this and move on.
