Tackle/Supplies on the way to Lake Barkley State Park

I'm on my way to Barkley for four days in the morning. I'm wondering where a tackle store is located that's between the Eddyville and Lake Barkley State Park? Someplace where I might be able to pick up some last minute Hook Some Bass lures, ice, supplies, etc. Any help that's not too far out of the way would be appreciated.

well, it depends on which route you take to Lake Barkley. If you take I-24 to Cadiz, your chooses are limited. There are several different ways to go. You can go west on US62 to 453 and take the Trace(which runs thru LBL) You'll pass a few bait stores on the way to 453. In Suwanee there's The Cabin bait store, The Tackle Box. In Lake City, there's Ken's Bait and Tackle. If you go US62 west to 641 south to 68 east(which will take you right to Lake Barkley State Park) you'll pass more bait shops then I can name. Mileage wise, it's longer. But, you pass bait shops in every little town you go thru. Did I make that "clear as mud"? Good Luck!

On the longer route, one of the best tackle stores I've ever been to down there was the one owned by .. dang my mind just went blank. He fished the FLW for a few years, and owns a lot of stuff down there, including hotels. His family owns a lot of stuff too.

His store is Kentucky Lake Outdoors, I believe. I haven't been there in about 2 years... Teddy Wynn is his name. It was a fantastic store when I was down there.

Now if you are staying at the Lake Barkley state resort park in Canton, just outside of Cadiz, you can probably find bait and tackle stores around Cadiz, but if you just take hwy 68/80 straight accross both bridges, you will be in Aurora, and there are some fantastic places there, plus some good eating too.

    Good luck,

    Danny

There are only two places down here that carries the Hook Some Bass Lures...The Cabin Bait and Tackle on U.S. 62 just west of Kuttawa and Judy's Bait Shop on U.S. 68 just east of Draffenville.

Hey thanks Dave - I'm after Hook Some Bass tackle specifically. Thanks every one else for responding. I sure wish I could have booked a trip with you this time around, maybe next. I'll be fishing all the spots you showed me two years ago, almost to the date, haven't been back since but I'm sure the fish visit the same ledges still. I have my map you marked and and I guard it around fishing buddies....lol
