I update the report on Fishin.com weekly now. I also give it on the Jim Strader Show on Sundays. The report is in the Indiana Section of the site.
Jim Dicken
I have been looking for a report myself. This is what I've been told recently:
"Was up there yesterday, saw a few clean beds but no bass. Caught some buck bass and a 1 good female in about 6 foot of water straight out from the beds. Looks like they moved off from the cool nights. Female was still full."
"I haven't seen any sign of a bass or crappie spawn and I'm up above walls ramp almost every weekend. Most fish are still in a pre-spawn mold waiting for the right weather conditions to bed. May should be a good one to fish if the weather will get warmer and the rain stop for awhile. Every crappie we caught(10"/14" fish) last week were on creek channel ledges 6' to 8' deep suspended above or near cover. The smaller ones were just about everywhere else in shallow water and biting pretty good. Used four different color combinations of 2" tubes on a 1/16th and a 3/32 ounce head. Caught 2 keeper bass on tubes also while crappie fishing. Lots of fun on light tackle."
"Report Updated May 2, 2006
Water Temp - 62 to 65 degrees with some areas as low as 60
3 foot above summer pool
Main Lake is clear and most creeks, main river is muddy to stained.
Lower water temps have turned the fish off.
Lots of small crappie
Bass were moving into weedbeds and have backed off.
High winds all week out of north or northeast
Wind out of east today. Lots of hail in the last 3 to 5 days."
Hope this helps somewhat on what's going on right now. Sounds like the bass are still mainly in the pre-spawn mode but with temps in the 70's consistently over the next 10 days look for them to move up. Don't really know where to tell you to start, I am trying to figure that one out for myself.
