LAST EDITED ON May-11-06 AT 08:55AM (EST)[p]Does anybody know where to find some? I've heard that they are Mizmos--Is this true? Or is there something else comparable out there? Thanks for any information.

    RE: snoozer tubes

LAST EDITED ON May-11-06 AT 12:56PM (EST)[p]Here are the facts:

Snoozer's was made by Mizmo under contract...they were hand dipped in Mexico and shipped to Snoozer's where the garlic and crawfish was cooked into them.

When Todd Miller (Snoozer)left "Snoozer's" he formed another company named "Hooked Up Baits"...his tubes then were made by another source (not Mizmo and not hand dipped) but the same colors and same scent cooked into them. He since sold out "Hooked Up Baits" a couple of years back. This company is still in business and selling the tubes.

When Todd was with "Snoozer's" they sponsored my guide service and I worked closely with them on lures...actually I had Snoozer as a sponsor long before he started selling the tubes...he had lizards, worms, etc...in the road kill cammo color. I wanted it in a tube so he got into the tube business which then became the mainstay of their business. When Todd started "Hooked Up Baits" he wanted to sponsor me again with the new tubes but I turned him down for a number of reasons, not the least being the new tubes in my opinion were not as good as the hand dipped Mizmo's (that is my opinion)and I wanted my client's to have what I felt was the better tube.

During all this changing of companies and reforming of companies another small company was coming online with some custom type lures such as jigs, spinnerbaits and creature baits. The name of this new company was and still is "Hook Some Bass Lures" The guys that were forming this company were regular clients of mine and offered to sponsor my guide service. I readily agree to do so because I already knew the quality of their work having been on the water with them when they were using their lures which they had been making for themselves. I talked to them about getting into the tube business also and getting the hand dipped tubes from Mizmo and cooking the crawfish and garlic into them just as Snoozer's had done with the original company. Hook Some Bass decided to do so and went to work developing their own colors to get made under contract with Mizmo.

Bottom line here is that Hook Some Bass Lures is now selling the same type of tube (Mizmo hand dipped) as did the original Snoozer Company. They have a 4" double dipped tube that the original Snoozer made in 3.75". They have a 3.5" single dipped tube that Snoozer did not have. Snoozer had a 2.75" tube which in my opinion was too small anyway. They have these tubes in a variety of colors. They have a tube which is the same as the Snoozer Road Kill Cammo but they call it "Chameleon Craw". You can get these tubes at The Cabin Bait and Tackle and Judy's Bait Shop here at Ky/Barkley. The Cabin Bait and Tackle also will ship them to you.

    RE: snoozer tubes

Hook Some Bass plastics are outstanding. Dave turned me onto them last spring and that is all I use. They stink the high heavens and the action in the tubes is MUCH MUCH BETTER than any other tube I used. Maybe there are better plastics on the market but my CONFIDENCE goes sky high when I put a Hook Some Bass Tube on a jig head or texas rig. I personally like the 4" tube over their smaller tube but I would say both have their moments when one works better than the other. Chameleon Craw is my favorite plus they have one that has chartrues dipped tentacles that I use quite often as well, sort of a green pumpkin with chartr tails (I don't know the exact name). I do own a few of their spinnerbaits and did have some good success last spring on them. I have the ones that have a fluted double willow blades and they are smooth.

    RE: snoozer tubes

I also love the old Snoozer tubes. I found the Hook Some Bass tubes to be just as effective. You can find them at the places Dave Stewart noted in his response. I also found them at Plapp's in Florence, KY. I purchased them in a bag of 50.

    I hope you find them.

RE: Where are those bait shops?

I looked, but can't find an address or phone number for The Cabin, or Judys bait and tackle.

    Can anyone provide any info?

Thanks Greg for furnishing the link to The Cabin. Judy's does not have a website...they are located about 3 miles east of Draffenville on U.S. 68 very near the Moor's Camp Road turnoff.
