Sounds about right for a a mid-May full moon situation. What was water temps?
What affect will the water temp have on the night time shad spawning? How long will the night time activity last? Do you know where I can get some repair paint for my red fins?
Thanks
Brian
The temp. will definitely affect the shad a little, but won"t hurt anything. The striper and walleye bite will last as long as the shad do. And that depends on the water temps. We just now are in the heart of the night bite, though.
Usually lasts until the first or second week in June, though I've heard of limited success until July. The later in the season it is, typically the shorter duration the bite.
Rustoleum spray paint would be a quick and easy cure for repainting the Red Fin.

The water temps were around 67 degrees.
When you buy expensive lures such as a redfin, take clear fingernail polish (usually can find it with wife's beauty products) and apply a coat to the bait to prevent the paint from chipping.
If you add too much nail polish, you can affect the lure's action. Might be easier to repaint, if you feel it is necessary. Personally, I don't think the stripers are that concerned how pretty the plug is. I have several homemade wood plugs that are missing a good deal of paint. Stripers still like to eat them.
