    RE: Berkley Gulp

I used the 7" turtle back worms for a year or so and got bit alot. The problem was that I caught a bunch of cat fish with them while bass fishing. I tried them on the LBL side of KY lake for smallmouth and as I recall did not do very well. If you decide to use them remember to get them off the hook before storing them or they will dry up and are really hard to remove from the hook. They will dry to almost leather like in about two hours if not kept wet.

They sent me some samples. I used the grub but the tail didn't have any action. You had to swim it fast to get any wiggle out of it. I put the Kalins back on. As far as any of the other baits in the series I don't know about them.

    RE: Berkley Gulp

Fishin.com used them up in Canada for Lake Trout.. BEST Lake trout bait there is and worked good to excellent on smallies too. Yes they have to be worked fast and do dry out.
However the big thing with me was the fact that when we fished the gulp twister tails jigging them the Lakers would follow the bait almost to the surface. Lakers were holding in 40 to 60 feet of water and following a bait from darkness into light is not normal for a laker.
I caught more fish on Gulp than on Regular twister tails due to the extra follow. I like the Gulp baits but they do have a trailing scent and it does attract ALL species not just bass so that is why you are catching Cats as well as bass. Caught a 12 pound Pike on one while jigging for lakers.
    Just my opinion..
