I use berkley 20lb Vanish Transition. It has great feel and less strech for better hookups. Just don't tie a palomar knot or the line will break. Just my 2 cents. Justin Hires

LAST EDITED ON May-16-06 AT 03:20PM (EST)[p]hey you got a knot suggestion..cause I have been breaking that stuff like crazy and can't figure out why...like the way it(transition) fishes but I broke off 2 fish I know were close to 5 lbs a couple weeks back and also broke several times on hookset thanks
I always heard P-line and Berkley Big Game for flipping.
FWIW, I prefer berkley big game. However, if you are going to use the Berkley Transition or probably any other fluorocarbon based on my experience then you should probably not use a palomar knot but a trilene knot. Be sure not to burn the fluorocarbon when working it down or it will break. Hope this helps.
Can you say braid? Braid and more braid? I was converted several years ago and I have converted a few since to the braid. Zero stretch=more sensitivity. I break off alot less and feel more strikes in the thick stuff. I just wish I could find a flourescent braid (Like Berkley Ultramax) to fish at night. Berkley no longer makes the Ultramax. Try it, you'll like it. Fished it for years using Gloomis rods and had no problems with eyes wearing out.

It's Berkley Big Game for me. I use 10 or 12 for crankin' and 15 for most everything else. I'll go 20 or 25 if I'm flippin' trashy water or lots of wood.
A lot of you guys swear by P Line. I've got to give that stuff a try.
Make sure you WET the knot before tightening it down....That should eliminate the problem.
P-Line tends to be very stiff. I know several that have used it once, and decided they did not like it.
I used 10 lb PLine for a couple of years, and decided to go back to Stren. The P line, I thought, had too much memory, did not seem as tough as stren, but was definately as strong... or maybe stronger.
It's a good thing so many different types are made... cuz so many different preferences out here in the world.
