Time to restock my freezer with some catfish and I plan on going to Taylorsville Sunday evening/night. Does anyone have any suggestions on the catfish, where are they (points, creeks?) It's been over ten years since I've been on Taylorsville.
I would suggest getting some minnows and straight lining for the cats. Get there an hour or two before dark and be ready. I would suggest Little Beach or Big Beach. From my experience, the catfish will bite good until dark and then slow down significantly but then the crappie and whites tend to show up. I will say I generally fish later in the year so the cooler temps may cause my suggestions to be irrelevant.
Thanks, like I said, it's been a long time since I've been to Taylorsville. Can you tell me the approximate location of Little Beach and Big Beach? I'll be launching at Van Buren. Also, is there a fee on Taylorsville's ramps now?

Big & Little Beach Creeks are on the dam end of the lake ... Van Buren is on the river end of the lake (opposite end of the lake). There are no longer any ramp fees at Settler's Trace, so I'd suspect they're gone from Taylorsville, totally.
If you've got a cast net ..... get you some Shad. Alive, dead, or cut ... they'll work well for cats. ..... luck2ya .... cp
when you leave the boat ramp from Van Buren, go up the lake(right) the timber is on the left side of the lake. the creek channel also runs down that left hand bank
Thanks, when I leave the Van Buren ramp and go right, wouldn't I be going down the lake instead of up the lake?

Well, I have only launched from Settler's Trace and I do not know the lake very well from Van Buren. I actually have only been fishing Taylorsville for about 4 years but my father-in-law (my unofficial fishing guide) could tell you no problem. I think I have read on here that there is some standing timber around Van Buren and that should be as good a place as any. In any event, you should be able to find a map online that could point you in the right direction.
