RE: Police ticketing fishermen in Captains Quarters

Do you know if the people ticketed were DQ from the tournament? This is not much different than the guys caught cheating on Barkley a couple of weeksago. My 2 cents...

    I agree with Barry!

    Rodney,
What Barry is saying is true---maybe not exactly the same thing---but still illegal. I can guarantee you that the guys that got the ticket in CQ----knew they took that chance and have heard of others being caught in there. They knew what they were doing. If they were in "off-limits" area and they got caught and ticketed----they should be DQ'ed. Maybe their fines and punishment not be as bad as the guys down at KY Lake, but they still need to pay for it one way or the other.
I don't like the ruling and I used to fish CQ ALL of the time for many, many years and never once had a problem in there. But times have changed and I don't have the money to fight it either----so guess what???? I stay far away from those places, as far as I can, so the temptation isn't there for me to fish it. I can find many, many other places to fish that are as equally as good or better without being in a "off-limits" area.

Actually his reasoning is not that mind boggling, in both cases the anglers were trying to win a tournament by using an illegal activity and should be DQ'ed

In some events it is in the rules that if you recieve a citation during the event you are automaticly DQ'ed .

RE: Police ticketing fishermen in Captains Quarters

Heres the deal after reading these post. The names of the fishermen have a right to privacy. I will not say there names or the tournament. The fisherman were not DQ'd. If us fishermen observe every NO FISHING sign, we would not have a place to fish. I can name places that have no fishing signs just as a scare tatic. The big stink in Captains Quarters is that a guy complains to us fishermen that our fishing line is clogging his pumps and he has to replace them. So, if this is true, by keeping us out no fishing line will get into his pumps???? I think NOT. The river rise and currents flow in and out of Captains, but that is there thinking.

Rodney, I don’t exactly agree. What’s the real difference of stringed up fish and fishing an area that is off limits? Both is legal, stringed up fish are ‘captive’ fish for the ‘thief’ to win the tournament. Fishing off limits is kind of like ‘captive’ fish that no one else legally can fish the area. So you could be stocking an off limits location to win tournament. To me it’s the same thing just the size of the stringer is different.

RE: Police ticketing fishermen in Captains Quarters

I posted on this subject last year and again this year. The boat owners at Captains Quarters won the battle to post their marina. This was a long fought battle that went to the stae supreme court. They were able to win due to the marina being mad made and has no feeder creek running through it. Last year fish and wildlife officers responded when called by the boat owners. Due to fish and wildlife not being able to always get there fast enough to write tickets the boat ownwers now hire off duty police officers to patrol the marina on the weekends. I am a person that fishes the river several times a week and hated to see this happen. My info came from the fish and wildlife officer who patrols that area. Hope this helps..

YES and they are strictly enforcing it. Sign has been there for years, but this year police are out there watching.
