Just checking to see if anyone has caught any fish on the ole chatter bait. After about 4 weeks of waiting mine finally came in last week and here are the results
Farm Pond - 3 fish all about 8 inches
Lake Malone - 4 casts and lost it even though it is supposed to be weedless
Barren River Lake last night - 10 pounder...snapping turtle (had to cut the line).
I hope you all have had better luck than I have with it.
On the way back from Malone on Saturday I stopped in a little tackle store in Quality and they had a Gambler knock off for the same price - I bought one - looks like better quality and they have more colors.

Have caught several in the ponds on it. Have yet to throw it in the big lakes. To tell ya the truth I'm not super impressed with the bait as of yet. Nothing more than a swimming jig with a piece of tin on it. It never amazes me how a guy can SUPPOSIVELY win a major tournament on a MAGIC LURE and all the sudden it's going make fish meet you at the dock roll over on their sides and hold still while you pick them up out of the water. I think in time you will see the ole OVERPRISED chatterbait wane to the weak side, just my 2 cents, Mark.
I put a hook in the biggest bass I have ever hooked fishing KY lake Saturday on a green pumpkin 1/4 oz chatterbait but could not land him (got off right at the boat)I caught several others but with no size. The big one is enought to keep me throwing it a while longer.
I caught 2 at boltz on a chatterbait. I caught 1 short fish and one that went 2.5, then I hooked a 15+ pound carp and he still has it.
The chatterbait is just like any other bait....it has a time and place to shine. It isn't a "magic bait" nor is it a cure-all. With so many people fishing it, the fish will eventually get used to it and all the hype will die out.
Has anyone tried slow rolling it on a hump in deep water? It seems like it would be a great alternative to the "jig popping" technique that Morehead, Bolton, Barga, and countless others have perfected on Ky Lake.
Until the turtle took mine and my running lights went out, I had planned on staying on Barren late last night and trying to see if it would catch a hybrid or two. On the video on Rad Lures it shows the guy putting a fluke on there, so I was going to try that. Anyone fished it that way?
Thanks for the tip on Uncle Lee's.
I got mine today, and will give them try tomorrow.
I'll give a report when I get back.
I wonder one thing though, a lot of guys have said they have them on ebay, with the distribution getting caught up, will the demand on ebay subside?
Danny
I caught some on barkley in April on a LB Lures Wobble Jig, same as chatterbait. I thought the strikes were strong, of course reaction bites usually are. I'll use it again, if the conditions are right.
What is a Chatter Bait?
Ive never heard of it.
I fished a tourny two weeks ago at Nolin. We used a chatterbait and won the tourny. We had 14.06 the first day. Biggest fish was 4.08. Just threw it like a crankbait. Yeah I think they work.
I have caught several fish on them. The only problem I have with them is the hole they leave in the fish's mouth makes it easy for them to throw. Next fish you catch on one, look at the size of the hole when you take the hook out.
