    Boat Troubles abound.....

It seems we are all having several problems with our boats.

I spoke with my dealer this morning about doing the tachometer work for me, and he said they had 20 boats coming in this morning for service. Now reading here, it seems everyone, or a lot of us are in the same shape. Wonder what's going on??

Who is your dealer? I own a new TR21X (6 days old) and some lady hit my fiberglass fender this weekend at Green River Lake Marina. I am going to have to get a new fender for the starboard side. Fortunately she had insurance and they are covering it (allegedly).

    Hey Danny:
As a boat salesman told me one time,
when you play you pay. Guess that's part of it.

    The boat mechanics love us.

There really isn't a whole lot to a tach... They are simple to change out.The biggest thing to remember is which setting to set the tach on the back of it.And if it has quit working alot of times it can be the voltage regulator.I hope this helps....

    RE: Boat Troubles abound.....

My dealer is Jet-A-Marine, in Calvert City, KY. The don't sell Tritons anymore, so I doubt you and I share that dealer. However, my understanding is that most dealers sublet out the fiberglass work anyway. I know my dealer is great at service. I needed some work done one week, and it was the same week the FLW was in town. Their number one priority had to be to FLW, they have the exclusive contract with FLW anyway for boats, so they have to give those guys priority when in town. My guy told me it was unlikely to get my boat done that week, and I understoond, and said if he found a way, to give me a call, so I could get signed up for a tournament. The next day he called me and said he had stayed late the night before to make sure I could make my tournament. That's why I always recommend them, that and I really appreciate the way Kerry dealt with me when I bought my boat.

Good luck with your boat. Don't you just hate buying something new, and having someone else mess it up for you? I remember I bought a new 1989 Chevy 4X4 while I lived in Orlando. Some kid turned left from the straight only lane and clipped the front of the truck. We had not made the first payment yet, and my wife was driving it alone. He wanted to talk to me about not turning it in because he was trying to get a job with the post office, and this would prevent him from being hired. My wife ASSURED him, that he did not want to talk to me!!!!

    Good luck,

    Danny

My dealer is Southern Kentucky Marine. This is my second Triton from them and they have been good so far. I am just sick because the boat and trailer are only 5-6 days old. Oh well nobody died. I just hope my new fender can be made soon. Tom Moody at Triton said it could be four to five weeks. Thanks for the reply, James.

I don't know the first thing about mechanics, at all. I mean I am dumber than dumb.

The tach is showing about 1,000 rpms more than it should be turning. I am basing this on previous readings and GPS MPH readings. I have another thread on here that explains it fully. Some have suggested the rectifier, but the mechanic thinks it is probably the tach. I'm sure he will check them both.

    Thanks for the help.

I saw the other post after I replied to this one.I would say it probally will be the tach.Alot of times if it is the regulator the tach will quit all together. Good luck to ya....
