LAST EDITED ON Jun-04-06 AT 08:33PM (EST)[p]I wasn't counting on any advice... I was a little late asking.

We ended up doing ok with numbers of bass, but no size. I had one break me off that might have changed that, but 6 pound line that is a little fraed should be cut off and re-tied before hooking a bigun instead of after.

The final tally was probably about 30 bass caught, 4 tiny crappie, and a mess of nice bluegill. The bass were mostly 10-13 inchers, with 1 that went 16.5 inches and the one that broke off may have been a keeper (I never turned her, but she pulled harder than a 6.25 pounder I caught on the same rod this spring).

Most bass were caught on Zoom Super Flukes. I used Watermellon/Red (this is what the biggun bit, early), my buddy started used White, then white with a blue sheen, then arkansas shad. Once the sun was up, I switched to a texas rigged baby brush hog in Watermellon/Red and caught a few (the 16.5" one bit this in 8 ft of water under a dead-fall.)

The biggest events of the day... We watched a family tip over their sailboat in the middle of the lake (aparently on purpose, to practive recovering it). The messed up in tipping it tho, and got it turtled. The couldn't flip it back over, so we used my boat to pull it back upright. Once they were all happlily back aboard, we returned to the ramp to see someone who (I'm guessing) forgot the plug. His boat susunk next to the boat dock despite our best efforts to prevent it. It was too full of water by the time I could help. It may still be there, he was in need of professional help in getting it out by the time I left.

Had a great time fishin, tho! I'd love to learn how to get to the real bass that live there.

Thanks for the report. I am taking young boy down to Cedar Creek this weekend. What were y'all having the best luck on? I may just take him bream fishing if the bass don't keep his attention.

    RE: CEDAR CREEK

I fished for there twice last weekend. I could catch all I wanted, but they were small. I couldn't find the crappies at all. I did say a 17-18" bass on a nest chasing all the small bluegill away.

If I were you, I'd try for bass or catfish.

The beach has unoffically opened as of this week, so watch out for the swimmers.

    Sounds like you're on them.

I'm headed down there Saturday morning with a buddy that hasn't fished in a long while. How are you fishin? I'd love to let him get a hook into a monster.
