According to the advertisement - http://www.ngcsports.com/walkingworm/walkingworm.cfm - it "COULD" be banned (but, only if it actually did outfish live bait ... which is banned, in certain species tournaments). I don't know of a single organization that has EVER "banned" an artificial lure. That's just the ad man's "come on" ... to make you think it's so good, and catches so many fish, that it would represent an unfair advantage for the user.
Reality says ... you CAN catch fish on it, but not to the degree that the advertisement would lead you to believe. Were it so, you'd see the Pro's using it. And, even if they did ... and caught fish, lots of fish ... why would that cause it to be "banned" from use ?? ANY Pro could purchase & use it ... so where would the "unfair advantage" come from ?? And, since the tournament organizations WANT their participants to CATCH FISH, lots of fish, to increase their popularity ... get more followers (potential customers & participants) ... generate more interest in the upcoming angler population ... and thus increase their own profits --- why would they ban something that increased the catch potential of its members ?? Fact is, they wouldn't ... and they don't.
Your question is a mute point .... they're legal, and they're not likely to be banned (for the reason stated in the ad). They should not BE BANNED, either ... but, maybe a "truth in advertising" lawsuit should be considered ?? LOL!!!
