I fish Taylorsville for cats only under very specific conditions. Tonight might very well be the night. At Taylorsville, a heavy rain and rising water is the ticket for big strings. I just got into the office, and you can bet I'll be watching the water flow data all day .... Jason

    RE: Taylorsville Catfish

Well, I went yesterday but didn't get to fish. I was on the water for about thirty minutes when I noticed that the boat was filling up with water and I had to return to the ramp. Bottom line: my boat had been in a repair shop for about six weeks and I had only had it back for 6 days. I took it in for a problems with it taking on water somewhere and I could not find it. I had put water in the boat in my driveway and it did not leak back out (any suggestions?). About a week after I took the boat to the shop, I got a call that when they had the boat on the lake checking for the leak, the motor had blown ($2000 more dollars in a motor I had only about forty five minutes on from the last rebuild. When I picked up the boat, I was told that they could not find a leak.). I finally went home and got my aluminum boat and went to the Kentucky River and had a pretty good evening there. Anyway, did anyone do any good on Taylorsville yesterday?

I was out for a little bit just around dark Saturday. I ended up with one small channel cat. I haven't been able to get a good bite going this year.

After taking a look at the lake levels, it appears that the water did not come up enough for the "high water" bite. I stayed home. As for the leak, sometimes you cannot detect a leak when you fill the boat up in the driveway. To illustrate, poke a really small hole in a styrofoam cup. If you put some water in the cup there might not be enough pressure to force the water out of the small hole. However, If you force the cup down into a pot of water, the pressure is often enough to force water up through the hole. The same holds true for small leaks in boats. Of course, if you have a serious gash, water is going to leak in or leak out, whatever the case may be .... Jason

Thanks, I think my leak might be in one of the connections on the bottom of one of my livewells. It's never anything thats easy to get to. Whatever it is, it lets in a lot of water in a hurry.

Check all your hull fittings for cracks. Look at your hoses.

Hopefully it is not a hose on a lower unit. They are a pain to replace your self. You have to be inventive to get the buggers on
