Sure just hook the jumper cable to one (1) of your two trolling motor battery's. Hook the Positive on one trolling motor battery to the positive on the starting battery. Hook the negative on the SAME trolling motor battery to the negative on the starting battery. This will give you a 12 volt jump. DO NOT HOOK THE CABLES TO BOTH TROLLING MOTOR BATTERY'S. Ask a qualified tech if you have any doubts. This is very simple but you could do some damage if not done properly, you could take the trolling motor cables off the trolling motor battery just to be on the safe side.
Thanks Plowboy!
I need a new cranking battery anyway but trying to make it to weight in next time.6 year old interstate marine battery. So i'm looking for a new interstate battery.
Thanks again. Dude
I did what plowboy said, and that was hook my jumper to my trollong motor battery, just one, and got nothing, so I hooked the positive to one TM battery and the negative to the other, and nearly melted my jumper cables. I later learned that you have to unhook the two TM batteries from each other in order to use it as a jumper.
I was very lucky I did not burn up my starter or blow up my main battery, and man, watch out, because those cables will get super hot when 24 volts are going through them. In fact, they were smoking!!!!!
So, yes, just unhook the two TM batteries, and use one of them to jump with.
My cranking battery was dead when I picked it up from the dealer after having some work done, and he, or one of the techs. left the main power switch on. Once recharged, I've had no more problems.
