Which part of peabody are you going to?
A lot of the Ohio County WMAs are no longer accessable (Echols area), and in fact now have gates. We drove back there a couple of weeks ago.
Also, the old wildlife refuge has been turned back to the owners and there is not supposed to be any access, this is in Muhlenberg county.
I've been very vocal about the fact that Peabody is selling most of this area in Muhlenberg and Ohio county off. For instance, in Ohio county, the Kenlake area is now behind locked gates as that sale is apparently complete. We have been told Peabody is selling 6,000 acres that basically surround us, and this is south of hwy 62. Now, my wife's aunt lives north of 62, we have been told by her that peabody is now about to sell everything north of 62, and that would basically be all around her.
I wish you luck, there sure used to be a lot of good fishing back there. I am afraid that there will soon be no public fishing available to us regular guys.
BTW, my understanding is the area around us is supposed to be turned into one of those hunting ranches. Supposedly that area over around Echols is going to be the same thing.
Something is going on for sure, beyond the rumors, as we have had surveyors out here for the last several weeks.
Danny
