Barren Hogback

Anyone know how to effectively bass fish the Hogback at Barren? I tried DD22s and a Carolina rig on it this weekend with little success. Is there any particular feature on it that the fish relate to? I fished it from one side to the other and couldn't really find much that stood out. Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Regards,

Only ONe Man catches fish on the Hogback regularly

First time I ever went fishing on Barren..
100 degrees middle of the day and Jesse Duncan pulls up on the Hogback. We proceed to catch a 4 pound bass, 1 pound crappie, couple of hybrids and another smaller bass. The water has to be running at the dam and you have to ask Jesse.. better yet have him guide you. I won't tell his secrets.

Where's crazyfishinnut????

Rodney knows that lake exceptionally well.

Rodney, come on, share some of your knowledge. Help the guys out. You know I don't fish down there, but you do catch a lot of fish, and big ones too... help them out!!

Really Rodney, you OK? I've not seen you around, I hope all is OK. Let us know if something is wrong, and if there is anyway I can help out.

RE: Barren Hogback

I have found sucsess flipping a watermelon lizard, or a white tube at rock walls, or if the water is in the bushes try flippin them. The carolina rigging should work, try sudden drops or ditches of main lake points. Hope this was some help

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-06 AT 04:12PM (EST)[p]I like topwater early....if it's real calm, drive over it a few times and refish it. I like the deep sides. Just my preference. I've lost too many baits C-rigging on the shallow side...it's kind of grabby. I've occasionally caught fish with crankbaits, but it's not my first choice for that area.
