Went to Cland, and worked out of Allegator II, here's some info, hope it helps.
Lake conditions:
Wolfe has no drift, save a twig or 2. Water at Allegator dock is clean but slightly stained, turning to very clear at the mouth on the main lake. Main lake had very minor amounts of drift, but watch at night as wind dies down and pull from dam allows some ones and twos of big drift (trees) to float off the banks the wind pinned them to in the day. Lilly is clear at mouth with minor staining towards head of creek and very minor or no drift. Greasy is the same as Lilly. Indian headed toward Grider Hill had zip drift and water is Carribean clean.
Fishing:
Used shiners with no luck. Pulled boards by day, but went out late, after 11 am. Fished down poles in the month of creeks (Lilly and Wolfe), 7 to 11 pm, and between the two on main lake at night). Very big school Tuesday and Wednesday night between Lilly and Wolfe on main lake just off main 140 foot channel, at 100-120 foot deep water level, at dark came up to 40-25 feet, with massive amounts of bait clouds. But got no hits running downpoles and shiners. Go figure. But eh beer stayed cold so who cares.
Jumps:
Monday night in Wolfe, about 100 yards from the juncture with Caney, starting at 730 pm and running till about 845 pm. Started on sunlighted side as you head in to Wolfe, then moved to shaded side on opposite bank. As you come off main lake, hang the first right into Wolfe, and stop at the first major cove/slew on your right, and watch the closest point, and far side from there. In Lilly Tuesday night, smaller surface feeding group in the first cove, on the right side, as you enter Lilly. Its the steep rock walled cove with the buoy in the middle. As you enter Lilly from main lake, just run straight in till you come to that cove, surface feeding was 730-845 pm, small schools, and nearly center on the cove entrance to the cove.
Gas prices ranged from 3.49 per gallon at State dock to 3.46 at Allegator, and both have self service/credit card pumps. By contrast, filling up in J-Town area or Russell Springs ranged from 2.69 to 2.71/gallon. Save 70 cents per gallon by ramping out if you're not paying a per use ramp fee/or you planned to do it anyway based on motel location.
Bait: Allegator II had no shiners or shad. State Dock and Lake Pointe Motel had good 4-5 inch shinners, that were easy to keep alive by aerating, and replacing tank water once every 3-4 hours from surface lake water. At night, to get shad real easy, go over main lake channel, troll till bait marks, then turn on a drop light and drift with the wind, give it 20 minutes, kill the light and chuck the net for Alewives mixed with Threadfin.
Did not check for or throw for top water Striper at night, but at night it wasn't until 1 am to 2 am till the shad came up to the banks and started to play.
