Bump .. Good info.. tell your older relatives.

I got an email today that gave a phone number to renew my "Locked" account.. instead of a link. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS.. I called the bank in question and they verified that the number is bogus and that the people on the other end of the line are scamming people. DO NOT EVER give out information over the phone or internet unless you are SURE it is secure. NEVER visit a website using a link in an email. Type it in instead. ESPECIALLY if it has to do with your accounts.

There are plenty of variations of these schemes. I even got one from the "irs" stating that they had an additional refund for me, just use the link and enter some info. Yeah right!!
No legitimate bank, credit card company, or similar organization will ever ask for info through an email.
