Stocking with the purpose to fail- what a comment.

Why would you not try "the experiment" where they came from with a chance to spawn on the shoals where they are native, That would be the comment. Not in a lake with no structure and no flowing water and no place to spawn like they were made for?

What lake are you talking about with no cover? If you are still talking about wood creek then you have never been there. That lake has more cover than any lake that I have seen in the state... Every thing you can imagine , even milfoil and lilypads. Yes I said lily pads. awesome amount of cover

I am sorry for that comment wood creek has a ton of structure, not the type where native walleye spawn. The native walleye were broadcast spawners on river shoals on the gravel in shallow water. When the lake was formed they were isolated to a few spots up the rivers on the shoals and were overfished with no regulation. And the fishing for them was good at that time for those that took out many big fish. That practice resulted in the loss of the fish,if it was stopped at that time, today might be another issue. i realize that fishery management is much better today than it was in 1950. So there is a chance that that fishery could be restored if there was an effort and someone cared about it. Wood creek does not have any flowing river shoals for the native walleye to spawn on. So I would doubt that there will ever be any self sustaining native walleye population in that lake even if they were stocked. The population of stocked native walleye may do well if trout stocking continues but there is no real place for them to spawn in their natural setting. Again that being the case, why would you not stock them from where they came from in the first place. And yes i know ZZZZ.
