    RE: Wild Game Cook Off

Coons? Possums? Why not Armadillo?!?! Armadilloes are now living in the state of Ky, anyone ever tried cooking one of those things? With that hard shell, it might be like cooking a crab!

    Armadilloes !!!!

Western Kentucky is where numerous Armadillo sightings have been reported. Steve Vantreese did an article on the little guys a while back and it was very interesting. With our milder winters, armadillos have been slowly making their way north and moving into Western Kentucky areas and making it their home. The funniest thing I learned was that when they are startled, they will jump up into the air and then take off running! Makes me think of a cartoon or something! That's how they get killed by cars so easily! When you drive up on one in the road, rather than take off running, they jump straight up and become perfectly level with your bumper and WHACK! If you're in the Western Ky area, keep an eye out for them! I think people will hit one, and then pick it up and carry it around in their truck bed to show their buddies! I know if I hit one, I'd have to pick it up and carry in my truckbed for awhile to show off because most people think I'm crazy talking about armadillos in KY !!!! :)

I know it's crazy, but I see them swimming across the Mississippi River all the time. I even saw a red tailed hawk ferrying them across once.

    RE: Armadilloes !!!!

I live 90 miles north of Evansville on the Illinois side of the Wabash.I just had someone tell me they had spotted an Armadillo. I didn't believe him until I read Bevo post. I bet he got here with the help of a red tail hawk because I saw one of those the other day.

    RE: Armadilloes !!!!

I'll reserve judgment as to whether Danny's crazy or not. Kinda sittin' on the fence on that one.

Where I'm from in Alabama them possums on a half shell have taken over, you hardly ever see a regular possum down there anymore.

    RE: Armadilloes !!!!

I sure hope that post is on the up and up!!

Why you ask? My wife and I were driving down the highway, and I was 95% sure that little critter we saw was an armadillo, but we had not heard of them here in KY.

    Whew, makes me feel better.

    RE: Wild Game Cook Off

I do believe we have a guy going to cook some bowfished Gar and Buffalo Ribs (fish not big wooly beast)
I supplied some bowfished paddlefish to Scott as I'll be in Detroit that weekend.

I may bring back some "silver" or "bighead" carp from a tourney on the 8th. I'll see how many 50# fish it takes to feed a crowd. LOL
