Finally made the trip with a brother and close friend. We fished from 7:30 pm till after sun up. Boated 12 smallies from 2 to 5lbs. Quick released 4 or 5. All the fish came off of main lake points and secondary points. The fish were in 20 feet of water. Black and blue punisher 1/4 ounce jigs are the bait we used. We fished the lower end of the lake. Thanks to this boards users we had a fantastic trip. I enjoyed watching our friend catch his first big smallie. He will never be the same. We all marveled at the night sky that the Good Lord created for us to see. What a special place. Trip dedicated to my dad. Thanks.

sounds like a great trip. me and the wife have been really killing the fish down there the last couple of weeks too. points and milfoil beds and 3 inch berkley power craw in blk/char was the ticket for us. she got her first big keeper out of dale, around 5#.

I read a post a couple of weeks ago about a honeymoon couple that had a great fishing trip to DH. If that was you thanks for the info. If not congrats to you and your wife on DH. It is a special lake and to enjoy it with your wife is a double blessing.
