Laurel Trout

Caught and released (except for a few) about 40 trout over the holiday weekend. Mostly between the dam and entrance to quaker branch on left side going upstream. Used downriggers and dipsy divers with small "stinger" spoons. Anything copper or gold backed with pink in it worked and a rainbow trout pattern spoon was hottest.

On a down note, I sold my houseboat so doubt i'll be fishing Laurel except maybe couple times a year now. On an up note, bought a place at Lake Erie so will be having a blast with those "northern" 'eyes.

Hate to see you go, but please post here every now and then with your walleye update from the nothern side we might like to go.

Lake Erie, western basin has been "on fire" since early spring and continues to give up quick limits of walleyes, although mostly smaller fish in the 15 to 20 inch range now. This is a welcome change from last year in which the fishing was WAY off. They had a good hatch in 2003 which is producing most of the smaller fish caught now. Next year should be even better as these fish grow a few more inches. We got 14 on saturday and 24 on sunday.

C'mon up and try some of the "northern" variety!

Thanks for the post, and keep giving us more in the future. I fished last year with a guy from Saginaw bay in his big ranger walleye boat and it was apparent that type of boat will be the only way to effectivly fish for walleye on Cland during the weekends with the heavy traffic. I plan to get one and then it would be fun to take trips up north. Don't forget us.
