    I'd have to agree with Mcneely lake. I've been a couple of times this year with gas prices being what they are, it's less than 10 minute drive for me. My advice would be to put in at the ramp (and watch because it's kind of steep) then go right toward the dam. There is a lot of cover to throw out and you should be able to catch some bass or bluegill. Good luck...

    McNeely is definitely the closest. I love Elmer Davis, and I think it's worth the hour and a half drive to Owenton. If you're thinking about maybe some catfish, then Guist is probably your best bet. And there are lots of bankfishing opportunities. In addition to the two that ohiorivercatfisherman mentioned, there's Tom Wallace Lake in Fairdale (excellent access), Fisherman's Park in J'Town, and Miles Park Pond #4 on Shelbyville Rd. They all have bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie in them.
