RE: Best way to rig fluke lures?

I use a 4/0 or 5/0 Gamakatsu wide gap hook. I prefer to use it weightless. You can work it on top like an injured baitfish, let it free fall, or whatever your imagination brings! It's very versatile and weedless and great this time of year for the early mornings and late evenings.

This really depends on how/where you want to fish them. I've used everything from 12 lb flouro and a 3/0 to fireline and a 5/0. I like using red hooks specifically with this bait. I'd recommend 4/14 fireline and a 3/0 EWG red hook for most presentations. Weightless. The bigger the hook dramatically hurts the action. With a 3/0 you can get a 2-3' zig zag dart.

I also really like a wacky rigging it with a 5/0 hook. This looks just like a live shiner and your hook-up percentage is nearly 100%.

Depending on water clarity, this bait is really best for fish that are 10' and up in the water column or schooling.

Hope you find this helpful friend!

RE: Best way to rig fluke lures?

Really weird thing happened, I put mine into my worm boxes and from one fishing trip to the next over about a three day period or so...I got my box out to use one and they were a mess...The whole two compartments of them melted together into a big glob.... Any ideas?

    Melted plastics

Keep them in a temp controlled environment. Cool and dry this time of year.

    RE: Melted plastics

I store my boat in my garage, and all my bait boxes are in my storage compartments, I wasn't out on the water but about 6 hours the time I was out when this happened....All I know is I lost about $25.00 worth of Fluke Lure's due to the heat.....
