I was planing a fishing trip to Lake Barkley, and was going to try Lake Beshear while I was in the area. However someone told me that Beshear has a horsepower limit. If so what is the limit?
Thank you in advance.

they had a 150 hp limit a few years back. i heard they
changed it when they went to the 22 foot length on boats.
According to the sign at the ramp nothing over 18 1/2 foot boats and 150 HP is allowed.

Our club fishs two tournaments a year at Beshears and several of the boats are longer than 18.5 and have larger motors than the 150. We have had no problems. But we do stress to the guys that if they are bringing the bigger stuff they should take it easy and not call attention to themselves. I don't think you'll have a problem if you behave.......
If you check the KY boating regs, you will see that both Beshear and Malone have 150 hp limits. There was recently a vote about changing Malone. I talked to state rep. Brent Yonts, and he said he knew they changed it but what not sure what it went to as he no longer serves on that committee. he said Malone's new limit would go into affect next year.
His reasoning was, as related to those making the vote, was that many people are changing decals and already using larger engines (I know many who do this), and that the new 18 foot boats with 150's with custom set ups are already running faster than many stock 21 footers with 225s.
I'm ready to see what the new reg is for Malone, I hope it 225.
