I read in the previous post that you have a stratos with a 200 johnson. How do you like it? Does your motor perform the way you thought? I love my boat, but not sure motor is doing as well as it should. It tops out at 66-68 mph. Is this all it will do? I know that a 21 ft. boat is very heavy but I had higher expectations.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-29-05 AT 06:22PM (EST)[p]Mine originally came with a 150 intruder and i traded it for the 200 that was a "new rebuilt" powerhead.it was eceptionally good
gps loaded, with a 26 raker was 75-77 at 5700 rpm, that powerhead blew got another 96 200 bare powerhead it#####,had to drop to a 24 raker runs about 53-5500 rpm and is powerless, evryone says it fine mechanically the only thing other that changed was the lower unit its off a 150 so i don't know if its different gears or not.In short the way it runs now and the gas it uses i'd love to have my 150 back on it,it's only 5-7 mph faster now at wot but uses a lot more gas. my boat is a 19 1/2 foot dual console.
as far as the boat i think its as good a ride and fishable as any, thinking of selling this and getting another a little newer.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you about the price of gas. My 200 drinks it. I almost bought a boat with a 150. I kinda wish I had now. I dont understand prop pitch, and raising or lowering the jack plate so Ive been afraid to tamper with it. I know it probably could use an adjustment but I wouldn't attempt to do it myself. Besides, it would probably use more gas! Thanks again.

if you have a 201 with the 200 you're running pretty well.A lot
depends on the load you carry.I don't carry a lot of tackle me and my partner are abot 360lbs total put all heavy stuff in the
back that can pick up 3 or 4 mph and that may be all you need.
the type prop and size can dictate your jackplate height.I tried
a renagade and raker with the raker being best i run it
3/4 to 1 inch higher than the renegade.Since you are a little underpowered drop 1 inch or two depending on your rpms it will
still run same top end and pick up the bottom and mid range
dramatically and use less gas at slower speeds, also in this
situation the 4 blade renegade or turbo 2+2 works well.
email me if you want to tinker with stratos29596@yahoo.
