Toby,
Haven;t heard anything definite, but the leaves will be a factor until we get some rain and some flow.

Is Stoner still covered with the green duck weed or is it clear now? Thanks for any help, heading down Saturday.

I don't like fighting the leaves but that duck weed is almost impossible to fish. I hope it looks better than it did at the end of September.
it doesnt I drove over it the other day and it still looks nasty
Thanks for the information. This is always our traditional Stoner weekend. We have generally done well there on this weekend and one year we absolutley slayed them. Makes it hard to not go back there this weekend. Any suggestions as to where a good alternative fall bite might be enjoyed?
yea toby I feel your pain, we went there last year on halloween saturday and caught 35 in less than 3 hrs, and steve riley and charlie M were there and they said they had caught 80 some, it will turn on just might be january b/f it does. Im not sure on an alt site, you could always go right down the road to carnico, I caught a 7 there back in may and have caught quite a few 4 and 5s this year.
Carnico is always our back up plan but I went there this Saturday and fished all day and only caught 3. Nothing was up shallow, caught all 3 on a crankbait. A guy we saw there said the lake was turning over, I don't have any idea if it was but I know it was really slow. We have done well at Carnico as well but it seems the grass is not there this year like in previous years. That's why I posted this questions because I know the back up plan might not be great this weekend. A guy who usually goes with us is wanting to hit the Ohio River but we fish that so much I'm tired of pounding it. I'll stop whinning now.
The trick to Carnico is plastic. If they were not hitting the crank, the plastic is were it is at. You need to find the grass and then slow role it through the grass. The trick is to take your time. LET IT SIT. Don't bonce it. Pull it through the grass and let it sit! It is almost like fishing a jerkbait, but it is on the bottom. Again, LET IT SIT!!!
LMAO, thought I had something, now the whole world knows
I don't know about duck weed, but when the milfoil was really bad at Guntersville we used plastic frogs or mice. Pulled them over the top of the weeds and across open spots. Worked very well.
Ikes is still a mess with the muck. Frymans looks good but the fishing is slow right now. I caught three last week but they we're all SMALL. Carnico may be turning over. I was at willgreen in Richmond Tuesday and the water was almost a black color from the turn over. I managed to catch one about two pounds off a spinnerbait.
