    RE: "Cold Natured" Motor?

Well, it happens with new motors too. I have a 2002 Merc Opti Max, 225 hp. It too is a very cold natured motor, but once it is running and warmed up, it is great. However on cool days, it will get cold natured again if I fish long enough without using the large motor.

One other thing that I think hurts mine is that I haven't really fished that much this year, and I think my gas tends to get old. I use stabilizer, but still, when you have a 56 gallon tank, and if you are not fishing a lot, and not careful, it is pretty easy to end up with old fuel.

Oh yeah, the primer bulb tip is a good one. I was told with the opti I would not need to prime my motor anymore, well, it does help.

    Good luck,

    Danny

    RE: "Cold Natured" Motor?

Listen to Devils HOrse he knows what he is talking about ,The only thing I can add is maybe going up one heat range in plugs

My 85 hp Johnson was hard to start las Sat @ Nolin 'course I had to scrape ice off the seats that day??
ONce it started and ran it was fine .

The tip about making sure the motor is all the way trimmed down is very important
