winch post

[Downwind]

The post that the winch attaches to is full of water. Think it would be ok to drill a small weep hole in the bottom to let it drain? Afraid it's going to rust out if I don't get the water out.

I would say go ahead and drill a small hole, but make sure and paint it well to protect it from water. I can't imagine the hole being any worse than water just sitting in the post. Just my opinion.
