Barren Crappie

LAST EDITED ON Nov-07-05 AT 03:18PM (EST)[p]Taking my boss and salesmen fishing tomorrow on Barren. Don't fish for crappie much and never this time of year. Bass Fisherman for the most part. Can someone help to put me on some fish or pattern. Would like to show them a good time. Can't travel the river too dangerous for my navigational skills.

Thanks,
BKH

On October 29, we caught 4 or 5 in Peter Creek fishing brush piles in the creek channel in 20 - 25 ft of water. Only had 2 that went over 9. We couldn't get a bite in shallower water than that.

LyleP,
That does not sound very good. I hope to find some brush in deeper water. I am hoping that BButton sends me some more info as to what kind of structure and how deep it was. I certainly want to look good in front of the Boss. I figure if I can put him on a few fish then he may want to do this more often and that gets me on the water for a day I would be sitting at this desk putting out fires.

Thanks,
Bart

I don't crappie fish but from what I've heard it hasn't been very good (as far as keepers) at Barren this year. If I was to take my boss to barren (and bass was ruled out....God forbid) I think I'd give Jesse Duncan a call and go for hybrids instead. Good luck with whatever you do!

Thanks Ranimated, that's not a bd idea. I had not even considered that one. I would love to try and put them on some bass but I will have 4 people in a 21' Nitro and can't tand the thought of a bunch of novice fishermen whizzing crankbaits and spinnerbaits by my head all day.

I know the lake is now down about 10' or so. My question would be were the hides showing on the surfice or would these hides have been in 20' of water with the lake at summer pool. I really don't know where many deep hides are. Thank you very much for trying to help me. My boss is from Canada and I sure would like to put him on a few fish. None of the three guys I am taking are fisherman so I figure it to be a most commical day.

the hides are in 10ft of water now you can not see the brush; we were fishing with tubes white/char. with a floater. you might want to get some live minnows and fish with a floater if the guys have not fished before. good luck and if I can help any email me [email protected]
