LAST EDITED ON Nov-18-05 AT 09:31PM (EST)[p]I hear all this about the curado's and loomis, maybe it's just me but just can't make myself spend that much $$$ on a combo.
Have any of you ever tried the Daiwa TD-X H 103's, I've got 3 off ebay and there the best reels I've every put my hands on, I think I gave like $72 for the highest one, I use them on BPS extreme or crankin' sticks and wouldn't trade them for any loomis/shimano combo out there. Now new the reels are kinda pricey ($130 + ) at most places but they're smoother than silk and tuff and hell, my oldest one is going on 8 yrs without any trouble.
Spinning wise the Regal X 2500 is hard to beat,

Not knockin' on anybody just expressing my opinion....

Just gave myself an early Christmas and bought the Rick Clunn combination. We'll see how it works, sure feels great. As far as Daiwa products are concerned, they must be making better equipment than they used to. All Daiwas I ever owned were poor quality and never lasted more than a year or two.

RE: BPS reels

The Extreme BPS reel is also a good one. Most if not all of your BPS reels are made by Phlueger <spelling>

RE: BPS reels

I got 2 BPS reels when I started fishing again about 5 years ago. I'm pretty hard on reels and in no time, they were sounding pretty rough despite cleaning and oiling. Swithed to the Shimano and they work just like I got them out of the box 3 years ago with less care. Just my 2 cents worth.

You'll be pleased with the Stradic. Not that you wouldn't have been with the JM's, they are very nice reels, but IMO you made the correct choice.

RE: BPS reels

Don't use spinning stuff so I can't speak to it. However, I do have 2 JM baitcasters. After two years I had to send one back in for repair. When I took the side plate off the centrifical brake fell off in my hand. I sent it to Outdoor Rod & Reel repair in Springfield. Told them to let me know what the cost would be. They repaired it and sent it back No Charge. About 3 weeks ago the bearing in the other JM got to feeling like someone had cut notches in the them. I sent it in and last week I received a brand new JM baitcaster in the mail. Today I visited the new BPS in Clarksville, In. and while talking to one of the guys behind the reel counter I related the above stories. He told me that if it's a BPS rod or reel and it breaks they will fix it under warranty. After what just happened to me I believe him. Its kind of like Sears tools. They are not the best in the world but the guarentee is....I may have to quit using an independent repairman for my BPS stuff. While I was there I purchased a new Extreme Reel for $49 (regurlar $79)....Lets see....thats a ratio of about 2.5 to 1 on Curados. Not to knock Curados because I have 2. Just not that crazy about them. By the way, they had to go back for repair before the JMs did and I had to pay for parts. I guess it all boils down to Ford and Chevy....whatever we individually like best.......
