Going down for a few hours. I hear it's down. Anybody been this past weekend and know what the scoop is? What's the surface temp like? I'll probably toss a fly, crank or buddy....just hope for a tug or two...

Let us know how you did after the front went through. I'm going somewhere on Sunday but not sure where yet. Dale is a bit of a drive unless the smallmouth are active then it's worth the extra driving. thanks
Fished until lunch and we boated about 12-15 in the 15-20" range. Had half that many break off or pull off. Not too bad. Caught on points on jigs.

Did you catch them on hair jigs?
just regular jig. natural color.
Had a good day on the hollow last week. Fished windy coves and banks. Really didn't fish to many channel bluffs. Caught several good fish on small spinners and live bait. Fish seem to be in less than 15-17ft. of water, the boat may have been in 25-30ft. Temps were in the low 60's. Caught a few on points but did better in long coves facing the wind. The weather is really changing now so this may not apply tomorrow. keep warm and good luck.
LH, where did you put in at & how are the ramps now?
We put in at the State dock. The ramp is very low. Down to one side and it helps if you have someone watch when you put in. It looks like it is just wide enough for a regular boat trailer. There is several rough spots when you put in, so just take it slow and look it over before putting your rig in. Put in at Sulpher Creek about a month ago, it was low but didn't have any problem.
LH, don't you fish out of a pontoon? Was considering selling my bass boat & getting a used one & wondered how you like it.
The last time I was at Dale I was in a buddys boat. I would need some help to put in at the state dock in my pontoon, it would probably work but would be rough and would probably need someone to watch the ramp when you backed in. I love the pontoon for fishing in the fall and summer, or night fishing. When there is little wind its great. You will feel more relaxed after a days fishing from it than you will in most boats. I have one of the largest 12 volt trolling motors you can put on a pontoon, but when the wind is blowing its still hard to maintain good control over it. I have an old skeeterhawk fishing boat I use in the spring and winter.
