First of all you have time to post your reply which is the same time it could have taken to email and said "What are your thoughts on smallies at Cumberland". This is pretty much what 2 other guys did and I replied to the first email and forwarded the exact same email to the 2nd guy. I don't fish Cumberland anymore for Smallies but did spend countless days the past 2 1/2 years on the Big C chasing Smallies and some times chasing Stripers as well. I posted my email address for I gave the other 2 gentlemen several "Spots" to try to catch some Smallies. From their email addresses, both of them are teachers in Ky. My wife used to be a teach in Ky and I understand the time she spent molding our young minds. School is in session so these gentlemen probably don't have the time to fish C land a lot especially from the county they both live in. Thought I would help them out specifically with "Spots" so I did. My Brother In Law still fishes Cumberland quite a bit and the same "Spots" that I gave the other 2 gentlemen, I will not advertise on this site for all to see. I am sure you don't post your best spots for Stripers. As far as techniques, here goes,
Option #1, Spinning Reel, 6lb test line, #8 Octopus Hook, tiny split shot, Biggest Shiners you can find (Personally the best are located at Lake Cumberland Country Store on US127 on the left just before entering the state park) bluff walls. Hook shiner thru Nasal Cavity, flip shiner close to bluff and let her work. Second area is main lake points next to river channel or deeper water. Third is 1/2 oz Silver Buddy worked off long sloping points that drop into deeper water.
Hope this helps
