    RE: taxidermist

While we're on the subject of taxidermy, does anyone know the proper proceedure in handling/caring for a trophy fish in between the time it takes to get it from the water to the taxidermists? If you catch a trophy do you immediately head back to the ramp or can you wait a little while and continue with the day's outing?

    Fish Handling

It is best to go on and leave. I think the fish will loose some coloration the longer it is in the livewell. Also when you get it home if your not going straight to the taxidermist, wet a towel, lay this fish flat on the towel and wrap it tightly making sure the fins are laid out flat. Put the towel in a trash bag, wrap the bag tight around the towel, tape it up and put it in the freezer until you can take it to the taxidermist.

    Hope this Helps
