Gerry is the "best" His fish look like the just came out of the water. He mounted a striper for me that was good enough to put in the game room even though the wife said no fish on the wall. After looking at the mount she gave the thumbs up because it looked so real. My 2 cents

    RE: taxidermist

So far there has been 3 different taxidermist named in this thread and I have had work done buy two of them so I am going to chime in with my opinion.

MaCmahn- Does a good job I would reccomend him. I have a muskey and two bass that he has done and they look good and his price is reasonable.

Gerry Wethinton- Simply the best. He has been to taxidermy shows in several different states and has won various awards buy his peers. But be ware of the price tag for execelent work. Last I heard his deer head mount was $400 and I had a friend that just picked up a Guntersville 7 plus pound bass and it was on drift wood and I think the price was $280. There is a differance in the work of the two taxidermist.

The only reason Gerry did not do my fish mount was because they were not truly big trophys. The reason I mounted the muskey was I always wanted one for my collection. As for the bass they came from deep water and tried to belly up so I just put them on the wall. A true trophy would be worth the extra cost of Gerry's.The deer head and squirrel that Gerry done back in the early 90's still looks great. Alot of people can make them look good but some dont hold up over time. As for Gerry I had heard rumor that his buisiness is so big that he is no longer taking new clients because he has enough repeat coustmers to keep him busy year round. Give him a call that may just be rumor.

I would reccomend either one unless it was a truly large trophy then I would not let anybody but Gerry do the work. Just my 2 cents worth.
