Next to Ole' Snoopy, I'd have to say for baitcasters I'd go with Curados, for spinners I really like Team Daiwa or the Emblem series if you can find them.

I really like the original Curados Super-Frees. The new Curados are a lot bigger and not well balanced. In true shimano style, they've taken something was working great and gotten rid of it! Anyone remember the old fightin' rods? I've got a few and I wouldn't trade for the best G. Loomis.

If it says Diawa, buy it!!I have two diawas that are over 15 years old, and the quick fire bails still work, and the other features on thje reels are still working. These are both spinning reels with the wide spools.Bait casting, dont do too much of it, but my left handed ryobis still work well.Remember trhe reels job is just to hold line as far as spinning is concerned, all those costly extras are just pricey doo dads.

Old Lews bb1ng, bb1ngh, bb1n baitcasters. Simple smooth and reliable as they come. Not made anymore, you have to buy them used for anywhere from $60 to $120 depending on their condition.

I have always liked Quantums, especially the newer PT's. Does anyone else have anything to say about these reels?
