Yes I think he is talking about the "Update" button. Don't think I had seen that before.
Regarding collapsed mode, I think I like it better too. One of the reasons I chose this software back in 2000 was because you could look at the threads is expaned mode. The board before that was expanded thread mode. Most users said they liked that.
In asking for opinions this time I heard that many users liked expanded thread mode again. I thought I did too.
The new, new board I am working on now does not offer expanded thread view on the main listing. When you click a topic then expanded mode can be viewed (if the user wants) with the full post below that. Just like this board.
Most software is moving away from expanded thread mode on the main listing and after using it I think that collapsed mode in the main listing is much easier and and saves time. You will still be able to see the threads expanded after you click onthe main topic.
I think the move to collapsed mode shift is due to the way the software operates via a database. My thinking is the shift is being made because now they can do it this way. The very first board sometime in the 90's was threaded because that was the only way they could do it and it was a very flakey system as whitnessed by the old boards crashing. That method could not handle the volume. Oh yeah, there was another board before that.
The new, new board is also the best one out there (if my research is correct, emphasis on if) It does a ton more things and I think it will be a lot of fun. We will be able to upload photos and have them thumbnailed in the post. Click on the thumbnail and see the big photo.
Anyhow, that's my story and I am sticking to it…moving forward.
