barren river lake draw down

Typically, the drawdown brings the fish off the bank and more onto the old channels, which will have a current flowing through them. Fish points and underwater structure (old islands, bridges, etc).
Usually, the more water running through the lake, the better. The time is a blessing in disguise though, because it means the dreaded winter turnover is just around the corner.
I cant believe that in jsut 3 months, it'll be time to hang out until spring again :(

To say that the draw down starts on Sept 15 would be correct but most people dont consider it to start on Oct 15 WHY...summer pool is 552 and on Sep 15 they slowly start to draw the lake 2 feet over a period of 30 days and then on Oct 15 they really open up the gates and let her go all the way down to 525. Yes it does start on Sept 15 but it wont be until Oct 15 before you will notice a differance in the water level from day to day.
