RE: Swimmers Injured by Speeding Motorboat

I grew up swimming in the Ohio River. Last time I was on the river, it was the Smithland pool, about 5 years ago, the river was much cleaner than it was when I was growing up. So, why the surprise at swimming in the river? Is it that nasty up around Louisville or something? I know they were in the Hancock County area, and that is not as far down river as Henderson where I grew up on the river.

Just curious as to why the surprise at swimming in the river?

    Thanks guys,

    Tight lines and God Bless

Yeah it is ugly and nasty up here around Louisville. They just allowed (I think it passed) a higher ppm of fecal matter when the river is flowing at a certain rate or above. Just hearing that and seeing all the trash and barges just makes me steer clear of the Ohio around here. It has cleaned up (the looks) some with all the riverfront development, but it's still a far cry from being a place I would ever swim.
