im in the market for a new reel,and was wondering what is the most popular reel. would you fellow fisherman give me some input on what you use? thank you all for your opinions

Whats your price range? As far as baitcasting it's hard to beat shimano. I always liked the curado but they have jumped up to $200 so for the money i would say citica or cruxis. These are smooth reels that cast great and can handle alot of usage. I like shimano spinning reels but don't use them enough anymore. I like the stradic spinning reels and they have been great. In all it's hard to beat shimano.

no price range, im willing to spend rhe money for a nice reel.i to have curado reels and realy like them,thats why im asking for every ones opinion, Im consitering buying the new curado but would like to know what other reels to consiter thank you for your reply DJD

I purchased a 7:1 Curado and a 5:1 Citica this summer both have been nice. They sure feel tight and solid. But if i had to get another one today i would get another Citica in the 6:1. Of course if money was not an option then some other Shimano's would be on my list. Good Luck.

I just recently purchased 3 new curados off of ebay and I got them for $145 for each of the first two and $150 for the third. I got one of each of the new types. The guy I bought them from only charged me shipping on one ($8) for all three that I won the auction on. I thought that was a pretty good deal, and I love them. They are even smoother than the old ones.

I am a shimano loyalist, but I also have two team Daiwa reels and a Quantum Energy. The Daiwa reels are good, I fell for the gimick and bought the one with the Twitch Bar, Ok reel but sounds like a video game when you cast it. The other has been a great reel. The Energy has been super smooth. If you were to open my rod locker though you would find 9 Green Curado's and two new curado's. Smooth casting durable and really a bargin. I was at Bass Pro the other day and was playing with the $500 shimano, 11 barings electic braking, man it was smooth, but the price and the wife, not necessarily in that order, shot that down.

Love my Shimano's. I buy Bass Pro Shop Extremes mostly now. You can adjust the brakes without taking the side cover off and they are as smooth and cast as far if not furhter. Hate to say it but the truth is the truth. Plus you can get them on sale for about 1/3 the price of a new Curado. Will they last as long as a Curado, I don't know never had one tear up yet but had to send two Energy's back for a refund (bad right out of the box). If money is no option then Shimano has the best name but I'll take 3 Bass pro Extremes anyday. You can also get a good deal on Extreme rod and reel combo's.

I bought 4 BPS extremes and a couple Rick Clunns this year and have really had good luck with them. Also BPS will take them back or exchange them at the first hint of a problem. They really want people to be satisfied with their named brand stuff.

I too bought the Daiwa Viento and I love it. It is the one with the twitchin' bar and I haven't had a lick of trouble out of mine. No noise when I cast like his makes. Mine is smooth on the cast and retrieve. I also like the way it fits my palm and did I mention that it is smooth. That twitchin' bar is great for soft plastics and jigs. I also have some of the BPS extreme combo's and I like those pretty well too, especially for the $. I don't use spinning reels that much anymore, but when I do it's either a Shimano (they have several good models) or my Daiwa Samurai. If you buy any reel just remember that you GENERALLY get what you pay for. I would suggest at least three ball bearings for spinning and 5-7 for baitcasters, anything more than that is just overkill. Just my $.02. Good luck with whatever reel(s) you buy.

I just recently added 2 new reels to my arsenal. The new curado 7:0 gear ratio model is awesome. The high ratio really helps you take up the slack on a running fish. I also baught 2 of the new quantum Tour edition reels , one with the 7:0 burner and the other in a 6:3 gear ratio. So far so good. All three are hard to beat. Id say the Quantum tour edition reels are my favorite. I beleieve the price was around 230 each. Good, Good reels.

Daiwa( Z )has Mag. brake on side for Quick setting.lite,smooth.
10 or more bb.( S) Model also great.Pflueger President is a smooth
reel for the money. (The best Rod&Reel, for what it cost,and

im sure that there are better reels, but i dont think you can go wrong with the curado reel. i have three of the older styles and like them very much, if i was going to buy a new reel it would probably be the new curado. thats my 2 cent worth.......Happy huntin
