Was on next pool up at tyrone from 6:30 till 2 . Had 6 largemouth, biggest 3 lbs. ,2 smallmouth around 2 lbs. ,small ky.bass constantly. And had about 2 minutes with a real nice muskie before he ran off with one of my favorite bandit crankbaits. A fine day on the river. Water temp. 83 on this pool.

I was just wondering how you guys were catching them. I fish the river around boonesboro (south of lexington) sometimes. Never have much luck though. I get afew stragglers here and there. I hear people fishing around the locks catch a bunch but I've never had any luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

We caught them on about anything as long as it had chartruse color. Small spinner baits, bandit crankbaits, craws and worms;seemed to do best on broken rock banks, and some on timber. Seems like the ky. bass must have had a great spawn,it was full of 6 to 10 inchers with some nicer 10 to 12s. hopefully the river is on a come back in this pool.

Fished the steel Branch Pool on Friday Morning and caught about 20 but the biggest was about 11 inches. Most of the fish were Smallmouth.

The smallmouth bite has been geting better and better every year. This year has been the best I have seen as far as numbers. Not as many keepers, but if you can weed through the 10-11 inchers, you can finally find a 5 fish limit of 12-13 inchers, with some being 14-15. It's been a blast this year. I hope it is a sign of more to come.

Yeah the smallmouth are going crazy... we have been catching some pretty good numbers, including at least one 2 pounder per trip. They are more active than the largemouth right now...or we are just better smallmouth fisherman than we thought.. we have also been catching some drum on crankbaits latley.. got a 10+pounder friday.. pretty cool
