No worse than anywhere else. It seems that folks in the Louisville area, especially non fisherman, believe that eating fish out of the river will kill you immediately. There are advisories from KYDFW. They can be found looking at this years fishing and boating guide section 2. Online that guide can be located @ http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/fishboat06b.asp
Enjoy.
If I remember the advisory it was for catfish, white bass, and carp and wasn't a "ban" on eating them only recommending occasional meals. My philosophy on eating fish from the river is do it in moderation and eat smaller fish. The chemicals that are bad for you build up in the fat in the fish and therefore fattier-meat fish are worst and larger fish accumulate more. I wouldn't sweat it but I wouldn't eat a catfish or white bass meal from the river every other day. I am glad you tagged a few! It can be a neat place to fish.

I am officially addicted to fishing at the Falls of the Ohio! Yesterday evening, I hooked into somethine HUGE! I was using my medium action spinning rod with 8 lb. test...it couldn't handle that monster of a fish! I don't know if it was a striper or catfish or what! I hooked into him and he started peeling off line like crazy! I did all I could to try and get him into the calm water, but he wouldn't budge! I ended up chasing him downstream for maybe a half mile and for half an hour. It was awesome! He finally got down into some rocks and sawed my line off. I was exhausted but still very excited to have done battle with him for as long as I did! I really believe it was a nice striper because there were stipers feeding where I hooked into him! I can't wait to go again tonight....I think I might up my line strength just in case it happens again!
Scott,
Them dead body's feel really heavy once they get in the current, :) and feel like a really Big fish. Your killing me.
Greg
I don't think it was a dead body because it was moving! It could have been a really big octopus!
I want your job. You work way to hard. If I was in Louisville I would go fish with you tonight.
Scott are you going tonite? If so give me a shout, and get your shirt up there asap! I talked to Matt, we are set, probably pick it up on Wed. Later on,
Eric Hickman Jr.
I'll be going again tonight! I'll probably go around 6:30 or 7:00 and fish until dark. Seems like from 6:30 until dark has been the prime feeding time.
What are you catching them on? Where are you fishing? I fished it a couple of times back in the spring but the water was high and didn't do any good. I'd like to get after those stripers. I'm boatless this weekend so I'd like to do some fun bank fishing. I might try to hit it Sunday morning. Thanks, Ted
