Superstitions before you fish....................

Never have bananas in the boat. Never leave the house without my fishing hat on. Never get the golden rule out unless you need it. Never get the dip net close to me until I need it. And last but certainly not least, if I hook one on the first cast I'll purposely try to loose it if I can as long as it's not a hawg. I hate catching one on the first cast that is waaay taboo.

Must have cold smoked sausage sandwitches that I grilled right before bed the night before. No fixins just cold greasy smoked sausage and bread 2 per baggie. Even if I dont eat them, I still take them.

Always wear the lucky fishin hat (there seems to be a new one every year).

I always listen to some Slayer or Metalica on the way to the lake.

And finally... Two years ago my brother-in-law and I were on the way to Rough when we came across a roadblock where some good folks were selling tootsie rolls for donations to charity. I gave them 5.00 and they gave me 4 tootsie rolls. My brother-in-lay gave me hell and called me a sucker. I ate one and kept the other three, one in the boat, one in the truck, and one in the tackle box. I slayed them that day, and he zeroed. Till this day I refuse to fish without one of those three tootsie rolls in my pocket. No other ones will do. Needless to say they are in bad shape now, all frayed, bent, and rock hard.

When the boat goes into the water at the ramp, as we are idling I put my hands in the water and rub them like I am washing them.

Mine is to not take me along if you fish a T. If you find fish, they'll be dinks. When you get the occasional keeper on he'll show himself, just so you know without a doubt he's a keeper, and then he'll shake off or break you off. Just ask bigcarl, he brings the rain and I bring the short fish.
