CHATTERBAITS

HEY GUYS I HAVE NEVER USED ONE OF THEESE LURES BUT I AM WILLING TO TRY CAUSE I HAVE HAD A DRY SPELL LAST FEW TRIPS OUT CATCHING FEW FISH.
ARE THEY AS GOOD AS THEY SAY? AND IS IT BETTER TO BUY THE ORIGINAL OR IS THE KNOCK OFFF AT BASS PRO JUST AS GOOD? ANY INFO THANKS

I like the gambler version with that odd looking hook. I have seen these baits fished like jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Just fish it the way you feel is right for the water your fishing. Good Luck, Don

A buddy of mine outfished me with one about a month ago (he was jigging it more than swimming it). He used the actual Chatterbait brand in black/blue. I bought a Gambler and used it a few weeks later but didn't catch any with it. I think it's like any other bait. It will kick tail on the right lake at the right time.

The thing I like most about it is that it's very versatile. It can be fished from top to bottom.

So far, all I've used are the original chatterbaits. I have several, and actually more than I intended to own...LOL

I have purchased one of the Gambler ones. It is a bluegill pattern. I think it will be good around cover.

I prefer the bait used as a crankbait type bait. I don't see them as being a deep water bait, although that one post mentioned his friend used it deep.

I think they work great around shallow cover when worked quickly. I also think that a trailer hook will be very useful on the bait.

i have the gambler bluegill pattern too. i tried putting a 3/8 split bullet weight around the hook up nest to the skirt to add weight and tried it moving really slow in about 12-15 ft on ledge a few weeks back and just wacked em. i wasnt getting bit on anything else, i mean nothing too. i figured what the hell and it worked great!

BPS in Clarksville has both the Gambler version and the original made by Rad lures. I saw them over there a few days ago on a couple of the aisle end-caps. Originally they only carried the Gambler, but they do have both now. If they are sold out run next door to ####'s and pick up a few. Lately one or the other has had several on the shelf because a lot of people figured out by experience that they are just like all the other baits that get all hyped up. Win one major event using a bait and everybody has to have the new "it" bait. Don't get me wrong, they can catch fish but I see nothing special about them to make them a super-bait or anything. I've tried working them like a jig a crank and a spinner and had a few fish on them but nothing super, mostly dinks, a few keepers, and several cats. Good luck with them. Hope you get better results and figure out why they got so hyped up.

I got mine at Uncle Lee's. I like dealing with them, because they order almost anything I ask for.

You are right .... they are not super baits. What I see them as something a little different, different vibes in the water, and maybe the fish will be a little less wary of them.

I think they have their time and place, but I don't think they will work every single time. I really think it depends on how the fish are positioned.
