Looks like he's been fishing in the "real world" all season

After hitting a lot of great fisheries at the exact best time this year, the Elite Series Major qualifiers have finally come to a body of water that is not exactly at its peak. This is Kevin Short's quote acknowledging that:
"Many may say this is tough but this is fishing in the real world, we've been fishing in fantasy lands most of the season. This is the South, in mid-August, it's going to be tough"

Man, that's pretty cold. But you have to look at it this way, he's fishing the legends tournament today and where are you at????
Not cold at all...just honest, I have no desire to be where he's at I like to eat!! :-)
Where am I, right now I'm at the Arkansas river along with Short good times ahead. Woo... Wooo...
RC5,
Aren't you one of the college kid fisherboys? lol... sorry ... men.. but when you get as old as I am, being called a boy is nice.... hell I even try to bribe the clerks to ID me when I buy stuff restricted to people of a certain age. Dang them clerks. I've not be ID'ed since I was 16, but I digress.......
Anyway... aren't you the lone voice for Eastern, or is it Murray?
Won't matter, UK team will bring home the championship to our great state.
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny
Well with all the preparation, organizing of a boat, tournaments, shirts, forms, just about the whole nine yards, plus looking forward to this thing since the begining of the year, I chose not to go.
My fiance started having contractions Monday at 3 am, sat in the hospital all day...They said she could have him in the next hour or the next couple weeks.
I tell you what it was the toughest and hardest decision I have made, but it was easy in the same thought. Very dispointed in the timing of it all, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I would be more mad at myself if I missed my sons birth, than missing this tournament (biggest tournament of my life) and him not coming. Ahhh, but there is always next year! I hope my cardinals pull it out. I know the weights were low for the pros yesterday, with more zeros there than anywhere this year, plus Wirth and Menendez with one fish...Must be a tough'un. Even K. Short, local boy who thought he had a good chance, came in with two fish. I love it when it's tough, especially on the river!

Congratulations ahead of time Eric to you and your future wife. May he be heathly and happy and a future bass pro.
Not only on the birth of your new fishing buddy... but on a life lesson that many don't learn for years and years to come from where you are in life at this moment.
You see, tournaments.... they come and go. There is always a competition to be found, but to be present at the blessed event of the birth of your child, your first at that, comes only one time. No matter how many children you have, you only get one shot at their birth.. and being there for your family is the the most mature thing a man can do.
I know of a fellow that worked with my brother-in-law. He missed his mother-in-law's funeral for a tournament. Now he misses his wife every day and night. OK, maybe they weren't that happy to begin with, and he may not really miss her, or maybe they were. We don't know. I just know I was told of his decision, and that in less than 6 months that she had left him.
You represent UL well, and more importantly you represent us men well also.
Thank you,
Tight lines and God Bless

UK doesn't have a football team do they? LOL
I'm even worried about the basketball game this year.
Did you hear about the UK coach that passed away? Go to the discussion board and read about it.
