    Elkhorn Report....

Hit the Elkhorn this AM with Andrew and Mark Hall. We had an excellent outing. The water was low. I don't think anyone was in a canoe today. If they were they'd have to paddle drag, paddle drag stumble roll....

We waded about a 2 mile stretch of water....I'll let the pictures tell the tale.

Andrew's 1st of many keeper ssmallmouth on his handmade topwater.

Mark almost getting aquainted with the depth of Canoe wreck hole. I managed to get out "Watch that...Splash....!!!bank drop....."

Mark bangs and 18 1/4. Awesome fish. We need to pay Danny a little tribute. We was talking about how we were going to tackle him at the Gettogether next year and this fish freight-trained...thanks Danny.

Another kid named Billy.....LOL!!!! Wading and fishing. He left with a couple of hand ties to add to his tackle box. To those of you who charge people money to fish on a public stream shame on you. Lakes are one thing, but a small stream like the Elkhorn is different. Land owners aren't real keen on that idea. And also advertising that you've stopped on someone's property caught and cleaned and cooked some fish may also not set right with them

All in all it was a great trip. Had we'd floated I don't think we'd caught near the number of fish which I calculate close to the 50 mark. Water had a little color. I think that was the difference. We had several more blowups. We did managed a shore lunch. One can of beanie weenies and 3 spoons.

All the land is private with the exception of the WMA.

    Come on October.

Great job Billy and crew! Looks like you all had a really good day. I have a hunch that I'd be out there more if my work didn't have me tied to the whippin' post so much here lately.

Leaves are falling a bit early. Maybe due to the heat and lack of water. We may be in for an early folage.
It appears the guide service didn't fair to well....LOL!

Looks like you guys really caught some nice fish...I agree with you, land owners are hurting the stream fishermen, heck that was how I learned to fish...Can't teach my boys to fish that way now, Land owners won't let you fish the creeks... So no one never knows how big those bronze backs can be in little fished streams.... Great Going Guys....

Nice fish. Good to see some guys who really know what it's all about. Is that just extra ventilation or is Andrew trying to start a new T-shirt style?

Any of y'all who haven't been on Billy's web site needs to go by and check it out. Good group of folks on there.

Billy, y'all have inspired me. I have a friend with land fronting Drake's Creek, and we've talked several times about fishing it. Going to have to give it a try. Shoulda done that yesterday morning instead of fishing Barren.

BTW, I'm planning on getting a little better with the FNF this winter. Are you having a fall or winter trip this year? I need to buzz by the CB and check in, the site's blocked from here, have to do it from home.
