After a few botched attempts, finally hooked up with my buddy Don Dasher (DJD) and hit a creek to the North of town this afternoon about 4pm.
The overcast and cooler temps were nice...a little more color to the water than last week, but not much. Slight drizzle as we were motoring up the creek, but it stopped by the time we started pitching. There was a touch more current after the rain, but nothing to get excited about. I was reading 74-76 degree water all evening.
I went straight to skipping a wacky-rigged Senko back deep into cover since that tactic worked well last week. Don was tossing a lizard to start. We had a double on in no time. We had a nice spurt with several fish...then it shut down...then as it was getting dark we started getting some topwater action on buzzbaits and frogs. Don caught a nice chatterbait fish that hit twice. All largemouth this time and no big smallies, but it was a good time!
Took a couple of pictures:
